This image is a first observation of the living color pattern of the Antarctic sea anemone Stephanthus antarcticus discovered in the Antarctic Peninsula (South Shetland Islands). This new genus shows characteristics of three distinct families of soft-bottom-dwelling sea anemones: Haloclavidae Verrill, Halcampoididae Appellöf and Andresiidae Stephenson. The Stephanthus Antarcticus tentatively placed in the family Haloclavidae.
