Online Contributions

The World Ocean Observatory is not a conventional membership organization relying on annual dues and continuous solicitation of funds. Our intent is to support our work through direct gifts by foundations and individuals. We are organized as a virtual enterprise to maximize the efficiencies of the Internet, to deliver independent programs and responsible services to the ocean community worldwide at the lowest possible cost, and to minimize operational expense whenever possible. To that end, we cap our non-programmatic administrative overhead at no more than 2% of funds raised.

Contributions are administered as restricted funds by the Ocean Classroom Foundation, a US IRS qualified 501(c)3 organization, are audited annually, and are tax-deductible under applicable law.
